On May 19, the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University, with the support of the Head of the Department for Attracting and Recruiting Foreign Students of the Department of External Affairs, Rauf Sabirov, held a videoconferencing meeting with the Liaoning University of Petroleum and Chemical Technology (LNPU). The university is located in the Liaoning province of the People’s Republic of China.
The meeting was attended by: Prof. Guiyang Ma, Dean of school of Petroleum Engineering, Prof. Qiang Zhao, Dean of School of AI and Software Engineering, Prof. Jamie Leon, Head of International Office, Prof. Tianshu Ren, Deputy Dean of International Office, Prof. Cunlei Li, Chair of Faculty of Petroleum Engineering, Dr. Yuanbo Shi, Chair of Software Engineering, Dr. Qiushi Zhang, Head of Experimental Center, School of Petroleum Engineering, Ms. Lu Cui, Manager of Sino-foreign Programs , Mr. Xiao Cui, Manager of international relations.
From IGPT, the meeting was attended by: Deputy Director of IGPT for Marketing, Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO) Ildus Chukmarov, Head of the Department of Hard-To-Recover Hydrocarbons Development and Operation Mikhail Varfolomeev, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Hard-To-Recover Hydrocarbons Development and Operation Boris Platov, Engineer of the 1st category, Deputy Director of CdoGEO for International Projects Alexey Stepanov.
The main issue on the agenda of the meeting was the discussion of further cooperation in the field of basic and additional education.
“Our Colleagues from LNPU came out with a proposal to launch a joint undergraduate program in Petroleum Engineering in English. We discussed the possibility of implementing this program in the form of a Master’s degree. Colleagues were interested in the proposal, and following the meeting, we agreed to exchange curricula and form a single program for further work,” said Rauf Sabirov.
The director of CdoGEO represented LNPU colleagues cooperation experience with China and additional professional education programs.
“CdoGEO is an exporter of KFU FVE programs,” says Ildus Adgamovich. Last year, we implemented courses for representatives of 7 countries, including China. It is gratifying that cooperation with China continues to expand: we previously held a student exchange with the Southwestern Petroleum University (SWPU) and implemented webinars for students of the China University of Petroleum (UPC). Liaoning University of Petroleum and Chemical Technology will become the third university from China with which our university plans to implement projects on basic and additional professional education. In August 2022, we have plans to host webinars for 60 UPC students in two distance learning programs, to which we are able to invite LNPU students.”
