CdoGEO took part in the Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum 2021
On August 31, the Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum 2021, one of the largest events in the Russian oil and gas industry opened at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center. Every year it brings together the main representatives of the fuel and energy complex, mechanical engineering and science. This year, more than 150 companies and petroleum universities took part in the forum, including the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of the Kazan Federal University. holding an exhibition for the first time as a world-class scientific center with our colleagues from the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Ufa State Petroleum Technical University and Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, says Danis Nurgaliev, Vice-Rector for Petroleum Technologies, Environmental Management and Geosciences, Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of the Kazan Federal University. “Today at the exhibition we will present our breakthrough projects, and tomorrow, at a round table dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Academician A. Trofimuk, we will represent main achievements of our consortium”.
At the exhibition stand of IGPT there was demonstrated the technology for transporting gas in hydrated form and was presented a project for the formation of a digital atlas of water in the Republic of Tatarstan.
“Several of our scientific and technical solutions are presented at the stand, one of them is related to hydrate technologies for transportation and utilization of associated petroleum gas,” says Mikhail Varfolomeev, Head of the Department of Hard-To-Recover Hydrocarbons Development and Operation.
“Here is a container for storing and utilizing gas hydrates.”
USPTU presented an induction heating system, which allows to provide modes of compensation for heat losses and emergency heating with high efficiency, it has deep power control and is fully automated.
The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology presented an optical scanner of thermal properties, with the help of which it is possible to obtain the profile of thermal conductivity and volumes of heat capacities with a high resolution of 1 mm, as well as the characteristics of the samples. These data are used for reservoir simulation and basin modeling, for the design of radioactive waste storage facilities, and geothermal energy.
The main decoration of the exhibition was ammonite – the logo of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO) of IGPT KFU. The Center implements more than 100 programs of additional professional education for Russian and foreign companies – these are advanced training and professional retraining courses in different areas: geology, geodesy, mine surveying and petroleum engineering, economics and management in the oil and gas industry, metrology, engineering and geological surveys, etc.
“We participate in the Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum every year,” says Ildus Chukmarov, deputy director of IGPT, Director of CdoGEO. In addition, 10 years ago we contributed to the holding of the first exhibition “GEO Kazan: Geological exploration. Geodesy. Cartography and “Actual Issues of Geodesy and Geographic Information Systems” conference. Today our logo is presented as an exhibit – ammonite, which symbolizes development, harmony and quality.
This year CdoGEO celebrates its 10 Years Anniversary. Since the foundation, we have become an exporter of KFU additional professional education programs. So this year CdoGEO implemented its courses for three countries: China, Vietnam and Latvia. By the end of the year, a large project will be launched in Uzbekistan for Jizzaкh Petroleum JV LLC. We managed to achieve such success thanks to the ambitious goals set by our management and support in their implementation.”
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Mikhail Ivanov and President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov became guests of honor of the Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum.
At the exhibition stand of the WCRC, they were greeted by the Rector of KFU Ilshat Gafurov. Danis Nurgaliev arranged a tour of the exhibition for the guests and spoke about the project of a World-Class Research Center, its goals, and then demonstrated the exhibits.
Within the framework of the forum, a plenary session was held to discuss key issues of the oil and gas industry, at which Danis Nurgaliev was a keynote speaker. In his report, he spoke about the KFU’s strategic project to create a domestic system of technological solutions for a smooth transition from a carbon to “green” economy using oil and gas infrastructure and gigantic natural potential, including territories, subsoil and biological resources.
“We are among the world leaders in the field of catalytic upgrading of hydrocarbons underground, we have the best personnel and infrastructure, more than 200 articles have been published in top-rated journals and more than 40 patents have been obtained. The developed catalysts and technologies are successfully used by Russian and foreign companies for the production of high-viscosity oil. We have also developed technologies for monitoring the development of such deposits from the daylight surface. Successfully operating systems of “in situ catalytic oil refining – underground refineries” have been implemented. We use this experience to develop technologies for generating hydrogen inside an oil and gas reservoir, and its production, leaving all unwanted components in a natural reservoir (formation). Hydrogen produced using this technology has a lower carbon footprint than blue hydrogen, which is now being relied on within the framework of the Hydrogen Energy Concept. We have plans to transfer at least 3 such technologies to companies by 2026. This will become the basis for achieving world leadership in this area” said Danis Karlovich.
The Petrochemical Forum will last until September 2. IGPT is the organizer of a round table dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Academician A.A. Trofimuk with a presentation of the World-Class Research Center “Rational development of the planet’s liquid hydrocarbon reserves”, and also participates in conferences “Topical issues of geodesy and geoinformation systems” and “Topical issues metrological support for measuring the flow rate and amount of liquids and gases. The quality of hydrocarbon raw materials (oil and natural gas)”, which is co-organized by the head of the Department of Metrology and Oil and Gas Flow Metering Equipment Joseph Fishman.
