216 employees of the state oil company of Cuba will study at KFU

Kazan Federal University and Cuba Tecnomatica (Cupet) company signed an agreement on the provision of advanced training services. About two hundred managers and specialists of the enterprise are expected to be trained on sixteen different programs in  the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU.

To recap, in 2018- 2019, the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing of IGPT implemented a major contract on the provision of advanced training  services for  200 managers and specialists of  the  foreign enterprise upon  ten different programs. As a result, Cupet management arrived at decision to conclude a new contract for 2020 and 2021.

It is worth noting that under the previous contract, all the programs were implemented on the basis of Cupet in Havana and Varadero, the new agreement provides for the training of employees both in Cuba and Kazan, on the basis of Kazan Federal University, using the capabilities of the laboratories of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies.

Our Cuban colleagues will be able to personally evaluate the unique instrument base of IGPT of KFU, examine their samples during the training  and interact with the university scientists.

The main task that we set ourselves, while improving the skills of CUPET employees, is to ensure the energy independence of friendly Cuba. KFU has already successfully implemented  a large number of  projects jointly with partner companies.  The  previous year, delegation of the Cuban oil Research center CEINPET headed by the General Director Amilcar Fierro Ruis de Ugarrio  visited Kazan Federal University , “–said   Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director for Marketing of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University and Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing.

The first course on the program  “Studies of carbonate reservoirs: sedimentology and secondary changes” has already been completed at the enterprise in Havana. Vladimir Morozov, Head of the Department of Mineralogy and Lithology of the IGPT KFU and Anton Kolchugin, Deputy Director for Research of IGPT, told the Cupet employees about methods for studying carbonate rocks, sedimentogenesis and lithogenesis of carbonate deposits, interpreting carbonate reservoir  borehole data , and the structure of carbonate reservoirs. Cuban colleagues also appreciated the practical part of the program, during which core materials and thin sections from Cuban fields were studied.

We managed to visit the CEINPET Oil Research Center and meet with its management. They were very interested in the methods that we use in our work and how these methods can be applied at Cuban facilities. We brought some samples  of source rocks from Cuban fields for further research, ” said Anton Nikolayevich.

Vladimir Morozov, professor of Kazan Federal University has provided training for Cupet employees for the second time. As early as in 2015, Ildus Chukmarov, organized the first free lecture course in Havana delivered by the  university teachers  Vladimir Morozov and Boris Platov, deputy director of CATQM&M. It is worth noting  that in March this year, Platov Boris Viktorovich is leaving  for Cuba to deliver a course of lectures for the fourth time.

Today, IGPT KFU cooperates with the state oil company of Cuba in all areas. Ildus Chukmarov regularly takes part in the events related to the development of Russian-Cuban relations at various levels, including the Embassy of Cuba and Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. The second group of specialists of the company is studying at the preparatory faculty, and in the next academic year they will start training at the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies under the master’s program “Development of hard-to-recover and unconventional hydrocarbon deposits”.

It is worth noting that Juan Torres Naranjo, the Deneral Director of the state-owned Cuba oil company, in his  letter of gratitude expressed his thanks for the training of  the first group of the company employees on KFU Master’s program and  the contribution of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies to the development of friendly relations between CUPET and KFU.
