Geomechanical Modeling in Drilling and Well Completion – Practical Course with Software Usage has started at CdoGEO KFU

On November 20th, at the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management, and Marketing (CdoGEO) of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies at Kazan Federal University, training started in five qualification enhancement programs:

The course participants include employees from companies such as Tagras-RS, TomskNIPIneft, Scientific-Analytical Center for Rational Subsoil Use named after V.I. Shpilman, SurgutNIPIneft, Gazprom VNIIGAZ, Bashneft-Dobycha, NK Rosneft – NTC, CORETEST SERVICE, and employees of the IGIRNIGM, Uzbekistan.

“The CdoGEO geomechanics programs are unique because they consist of two parts,” says Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director of IGPT for Marketing and Director of CdoGEO. “In the first part, participants study the physical processes of the geomechanical properties of rocks and work in the laboratory at KFU with senior researcher Eduard Ziganshin. In the second part, mathematical modeling and practical solutions for drilling and well completion support are discussed using software products. We implement this part in collaboration with our long-time partner, Geonaft company. This combination confirms our motto – ‘We integrate everybody’s possibilities for the success of everyone.’ It’s gratifying that new tutors are joining our team of experts. This week, we invited Olga Generalenko, an expert from Gazpromneft NTC, to lecture on the program ‘Practical Sedimentology (Terrigenous Reservoirs).’ I hope that participants will derive maximum benefit from the classes.”

“The uniqueness of the geomechanics course lies in the fact that participants will gain practical skills in working with modern Geonaft software through full immersion in the 1D geomechanical modeling process. Under the guidance of industry experts, course participants will learn to build a model and present results, justifying their proposals for optimizing well construction,” said Ruslan Melikov, lecturer of the course “Geomechanical Modeling in Drilling and Well Completion – Practical Course with Software Usage,” and head of the Geonaft Technological Center.
