Kazan Federal University and China University of Petroleum (East China) expand their cooperation in the given conditions
Online negotiations with the representatives of China University of Petroleum (UPC) were held at the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of the Kazan Federal University. The negotiations included participation of the Deputy Director of Office of International Affairs, UPC Wu Kehua and the Head of the Office for International Affairs of the School of Geoscience Li Yong. From the side of the Kazan Federal University the meeting was moderated by the Director of Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing, IGPT KFU Ildus Chukmarov, representative of the Department of External Affairs Farit Khaidarov, senior lecturer of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Platov Boris, associate professor of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Chendong Yuan. The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between KFU and China University of Petroleum (East China) in the current conditions associated with the COVID 19 pandemic. Ildus Chukmarov thanked all the participants and noted Chendong Yuan, who contributes to a better understanding of the parties during the negotiations.
In connection with the current situation, the training of UPC students at KFU in programs of additional professional education in February is planned to be postponed to September 2021. The parties discussed the possibilities of starting the training in future as well as considered options for implementing part of the internship programs in a distance format. However, there are certain limitations when conducting research work remotely.
There are 4 areas of cooperation with China University of Petroleum: retraining of postgraduate UPC students and advanced training courses in the form of internships for undergraduate UPC students, PhD student and Professor.
China University of Petroleum also plans to train its students majoring in law.
In this regard, the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies passed the torch to the Faculty of Law of KFU.
Wu Kehua thanked the representatives of KFU and noted that they work with many universities and research centers in the world, and they are especially comfortable to interact with the Kazan Federal University.
In addition to current projects, plans for expanding cooperation in the future were also discussed during the meeting and negotiations.
“We are ready to flexibly implement programs under the given conditions within the framework of our contracts, and upon request we are ready to provide new short-term advanced training courses for students and employees of the China University of Petroleum. It is great that in spite of the current situation with the pandemic, both sides are determined to implement cooperation,” said Ildus Chukmarov, Director of Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing.
Six months ago, Vice-Rector for Research of Kazan Federal University, Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Danis Nurgaliev and Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the China University of Petroleum (Huadong) Yao Jun signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities.
The goal of mutually beneficial cooperation is to maintain student exchanges between KFU and UPC in all areas of educational, scientific and economic contractual activities, as well as between relevant institutions, higher schools and faculties, which can establish relationships directly within the framework of the concluded Memorandum of Understanding.
