Cooperation of KFU and the Republic of Cuba in the field of further professional education was discussed in Moscow

A meeting of the Russian-Cuban working party on education was held in Moscow. The Russian delegation included representatives of Kazan Federal University: Linar Latypov, Vice-Rector for External Relations and Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director for Marketing of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University and Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment of Cuba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Russian Federation. The Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Marina Borovskaya. Russian universities were  also represented by Pushkin State  Russian Language Institute , Southern Federal University, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Russian State Social University and Moscow State Linguistic University.

The issues of improving the regulatory basis of Russian-Cuban educational cooperation, improving the system of teaching Russian as a foreign language in the Republic of Cuba, developing inter-university interaction have been discussed.  The problems of further professional education were also of special interest.

To recap, last year Kazan Federal University and the Cuban Cupet oil company signed an agreement on the provision of advanced training services. 140 managers and specialists of the enterprise have already been trained on ten different programs at the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing of  IGPT KFU, this is being testimony to the leading position of KFU  in the field of development of domain expertise of Cuban citizens.

At the meeting, Ildus Chukmarov made a proposal to allocate, within the framework of the existing intergovernmental agreement, quotas for training on the programs of further professional education. Ildus Adgamovich also noted that the fifth part out of 100 quota, allocated for teaching Cuban students in Russia annually, is  implemented by the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies. As recently as last year, a group of specialists of the national oil company of Cuba (Cupet) was trained on master’s program at IGPT. 18 specialists of the company and an employee of the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment of Cuba are expected to start master’s program this month.
