KFU participates in SPE Oil and Gas Russian Technological Conference
Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University, represented by Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director for Marketing of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University and Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing, took part in SPE Oil and Gas Russian Technological Conference held in Moscow in Russia.
The International Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is the largest professional organization of technical assistants of the oil industry. The main goal of the Society is accumulation and spread of knowledge in the field of oil exploration and production, as well as the development of related technologies. SPE combines more than 170 thousand members , including employees and students of Kazan Federal University. Let us recall that the SPE Student Chapter, a student community of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU, proved to be one of the world renowned student societies. The organization takes an active part in the life of KFU, arranging different events in the IGPT.
Oil and Gas Russian Technological Conference annually confirms its status as the major regional event of the Society of Oil and Gas Engineers. This year, the meeting brought together more than 850 representatives from 190 foreign and domestic mining and service companies, research institutes and universities, government agencies and professional public organizations. The conference attendees come from more than 20 countries. Among the companies that represented the largest delegations were such industry leaders as NK Rosneft, Gazprom Neft, Tatneft, LUKOIL, Surgutneftegas, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Zarubezhneft and many others. SPE conferences are a unique platform for discussing the latest industry developments and sharing knowledge and experience, both for industry experts and young professionals. Incidentally, a special session of young specialists was also held at the conference.
The 2019 meeting program included a wide range of problems: digital technologies for the oil and gas industry, hard-to-recover reserves, geology and geophysics, drilling and well construction, geological and hydrodynamic modeling, geomechanics and many others.
“During technical sessions and round tables much attention was given to the new and promising research areas, such as digital technologies, computer-assisted teaching, artificial intelligence etc. As a result, rapid changes and the need in adaptation to the digital transformation mode of the industry requires specific skills and knowledge. The issues of staff development and employee training appeared to be a subject of keen interest during most of the presentations, ” Ildus Chukmarov shared.
The expansion of cooperation on personnel development was discussed during a series of negotiations with the partners of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing, and prospective customers, including: Schlumberger, Roxar, IBM, Wintershall, BakerHughes, Gazprom Neft, LUKOIL-Engineering, as well as with SPE management and a number of independent experts.
It is worth noting that Chief Information Officer of RN-BashNIPIneft Timofey Zagurenko expressed his thanks to Kazan Federal University for fruitful cooperation. At present, KFU and NK Rosneft, within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement signed in September in the previous year, are carrying out effective joint work in personnel training, research, as well as in providing further professional education services for the company’s employees. In addition, Rosneft transferred to KFU a package of software products of the company to be integrated into the educational process of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies.
