The scientists of the Kazan Federal University presented their developments at one of the largest conferences on the problems of heavy oil production in Kuwait. Mikhail Varfolomeyev, the head of the Department of Development and Operation of Hard-to-Recover Hydrocarbon Reservoir of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies and Chandong Yuan, senior research scientist of the research laboratory “Rheological and Thermochemical Research” of KFU, made presentations at ”SPE International Herald Oil Conference and Exhibition”. More than 1000 experts and scientists in the field of heavy oil production from around the world took part in the conference. “Cost Optimisation: The Key to Unlocking Heavy Oil Success” was the main topic of the conference. In Havana, a  group of 20 managers and specialists  of Cupet  oil company have completed an advanced training program provided by the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies The course on reservoir hydrodynamic modeling was given by the deputy director of the REC "Hard to recover reserves" of the IGPT Sergey Usmanov  who was highly esteemed by the participants.
