IGPT KFU management discussed prospects for cooperation with PDVSA
The Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies was visited by representatives of PDVSA, the state oil and gas company of Venezuela. The delegation included: CEO of PDVSA Rusia Hoglis Martinez, Manager of geosciences and reservoirs of the Petromiranda joint venture Yonatan Borrome, Petrophysicist of the Petromiranda joint venture Evelyn Gomez, Manager of geophysics and geodesy of the executive directorate for integrated exploration (DEXEIY) Manuel Bolivar, Technical consultant of the Venezuelan Petroleum Corporation (CVP) Julio Lugo, Business development analyst at PDVSA Rusia Elizaveta Fedulova, Institutional relations analyst at PDVSA Rusia Olesya Kazakova.
The PDVSA delegation joined representatives of TNG-Group LLC: the head of TNG-Group projects in Venezuela Sergey Fomichev, the director of TNG-KazanGeophysics Ramis Gizzatullin, the head of the TNG-Group Center of Geological Research Igor Ustimov.
It should be noted that Hoglis Martinez is visiting Kazan Federal University for the third time.
The meeting took place with the assistance and support of the Moscow branch of PDVSA Rusia, whose leadership came up with the idea of organizing the meeting, taking into account the established basis for cooperation through the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Russia (in 2014-2016).
The meeting was opened by the Vice-Rector for Petroleum Technologies, Environmental Management and Earth Sciences of KFU Danis Nurgaliev, who spoke in detail about the history of Kazan University and the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, and also reported on the main directions of IGPT and developments in the field of geology and oil and gas field development.
Hoglis Martinez thanked for the presentation, which was translated into Spanish, and gave the floor to Manuel Bolivar and Evelyn Gomez.
As Manuel Bolivar emphasized, Venezuela has huge oil reserves. Evelyn Gomez demonstrated the structure of oilfields and the wells located there. As the specialist noted, oil reservoirs have great depths and it is necessary to drill deep wells.
“We hope that your technologies and developments will help solve our problems,” said Hoglis Martinez. “I am confident that such an alliance – KFU, TNG-Group LLC and PDVSA – will increase the level of oil production in Venezuela.”
Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director of IGPT for Marketing, Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO), spoke in Spanish about professional retraining and advanced training programs, areas of basic education (Bachelor’s, Master’s).
“CdoGEO is an exporter of KFU additional professional education programs”, noted Ildus Chukmarov. “We have extensive experience in interaction with Latin America. Thus, since 2015, we have been cooperating with Cuba in all areas, in particular in education. During this time, 267 specialists and company managers have been trained. We also interact with China, Iraq, and Vietnam. We offer you bachelor’s, master’s, advanced training, professional retraining programs, individual internships, and summer schools. We are ready to consider any applications for the implementation of training, retraining, advanced training and internship programs for your enterprise”
The guests expressed great interest, emphasizing that they pay great attention to the training of their personnel.
On the second day, guests visited laboratories and the Geological Museum named after Stukenberg.
“Venezuela is a country that has the largest reserves of viscous and super-viscous oil,” says Danis Nurgaliev. “Oil reserves here are so large that when hydrocarbons run out in the Persian Gulf countries, the main production will move here. During the negotiations, we paid special attention to demonstrating our technologies and training and retraining programs. Colleagues will prepare a cooperation agreement in the near future.”
“TNG-Group LLC is collaborating with PDVSA under a contract to conduct seismic surveys” explains Sergey Fomichev. “Since KFU and I work closely on many projects, we were glad to participate in such an alliance. PDVSA has a request to increase oil production, and I am confident that together we will help with this.”
Following the meeting, the management of PDVSA and KFU agreed to consider the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding as a basis for cooperation within the framework of the next High-Level Russia-Venezuela Intergovernmental Commission.
