Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU hosted Karen Sarkicyanz

Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU hosted Karen Sarkicyanz, Deputy Chief Geologist of Surgutneft Oil and Gas Production Department.

“Surgutneftegas”  is one of the largest oil companies in Russia, developing the sectors of oil and gas exploration and production, gas processing and electricity generation, production and marketing of oil and petrochemical products. It includes seven oil and gas producing departments, including the Surgutneft Oil and Gas Production Department.

Karen Sargsyants visited KFU to tell the students about the enterprise, working conditions for the young specialists and practical training, as well as with the aim of expanding cooperation with the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies in educational and research fields.

“I would like to note that we have selected 28 promising trainees from three famous universities in Russia and they are represented in the following ratio: Tomsk Polytechnic University – 8 people, North Caucasian Federal University – 2 people and Kazan Federal University – 18 people. This suggests that KFU maintains its reputation, ”said Karen Borisovich.

During the meeting with geo students Andrei Teryokhin, Deputy Director of IGPT for Practices and Interaction with Employers, noted the company’s great contribution to the career guidance of  university students, supervising their intern’s work with further employment. The young specialists who join the company succeed in practice and pursue higher-level careers.

The company representative also noted that any career in the oil and gas sector begins with a working profession. In order to become a Surgutneftegaz team member one should have a certificate of a vocational profession and a desire to work and make progress.

Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director for Marketing of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University and Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing, said that  the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies  provides training of  the multi-profile specialists  who are in demand on the labor market,

“Many CEOs of large companies start business as operators of oil and gas production, this being the best way to master your business and learn it from the very beginning of the production chain. And the Center helps  the students to master this profession in parallel with basic education. ”,said Ildus Adgamovich.

It is worth noting that Surgutneftegas has been actively cooperating with KFU for several years in the field of personnel development and research.

“There are several avenues of cooperation with the university. These areas are further professional education provided by the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing  under the supervision of its director Chukmarov Ildus Adgamovich. Cooperation with the laboratory of Varfolomeev Mikhail Alekseevich is developing. And, of course, we are very pleased to work with Danis Karlovich Nurgaliev  who always offers a great number of  unique ideas and solutions .We hope to continue our fruitful cooperation, ”added Karen Sargsyants.
