The IGPT KFU was visited by representatives of SHESHMAOIL MC LLC
On August 5 the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of the Kazan Federal University was visited by the delegation of LLC MC Sheshmaoil. The delegation included the Head of the Development Department Maxim Novikov, the Head of the Geology Department Sergey Sabaev and the Chief Specialist for Innovation Activity Vladimir Malykhin.
The guests were welcomed by Vice-Rector for Oil and Gas Technologies, Environmental Management and Geosciences, Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of the Kazan Federal University Danis Nurgaliev, Deputy Director for Innovation Activities of IGPT KFU, Director of the IGPT EOR Center Vladislav Sudakov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Geophysics and Geoinformation Technologies of IGPT KFU Viktor Kosarev, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Geophysics and Geoinformation Technologies of IGPT KFU, Deputy Director of the IGPT EOR Center Sergey Usmanov, Deputy Director of the IGPT EOR Center Artur Shakirov, Head of the Innovation and Educational Technologies Department of IGPT KFU Rustam Khusnullin.
The purpose of the guests’ arrival was to get acquainted with the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies: its laboratories and technical equipment, scientific activities, developments and achievements in the field of solving various production challenges. Developments in the field of increasing the efficiency of oil recovery and reducing the environmental impact of existing production facilities, obtaining new methods for extracting and processing hard-to-recover oil reserves are a promising areas of work for IGPT. These studies are carried out by scientists from the Chemical Institute named after A.M. Butlerov.
The employees of Sheshmaoil Management Company LLC were shown laboratories for studying the rheological properties of oil, thermal analysis and calorimetry, thermal steam methods and catalytic aquathermolysis, in-situ combustion, a laboratory for the study of solvents and binary mixtures to improve the efficiency of oil production, organic geochemistry, a laboratory for chemical methods of enhanced oil recovery.
The second part of the excursion took place in the laboratories of IGPT. The guests were shown the laboratory of isotope and elemental analysis, where KFU employees are engaged in scientific activities in the field of isotopic geochemistry, in particular oil and gas geochemistry, chemostratigraphy and isotope geochronology. In the laboratory of X-ray computed tomography, the guests were shown a nanofocus research X-ray system for computed tomography. In the laboratory, scientists perform pore-scale modeling, industrial defectoscopy, and study the structures of porosity and fracturing. Also, the employees of LLC “MC “Sheshmaoil” were shown the laboratory of petrophysical methods for studying geomaterials, where KFU researchers conduct tests and studies on core samples. The guests were able to evaluate the level of technical equipment of IGPT on the example of the 3D GEO Center, where students learn to build geological models and calculate the reservoir properties. After getting acquainted with the Institute of Geology, a round table discussion of the developments took place.
The meeting was opened by Danis Nurgaliev, who told the representatives of Sheshmaoil Management Company LLC about IGPT partners and the most successful projects. For example, Danis Karlovich Nurgaliev mentioned the introduction of catalysts for enhanced oil recovery in Cuba. The director of IGPT paid special attention to the work of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO), which is headed by Deputy Director for Marketing Ildus Chukmarov. Danis Nurgaliev emphasized that CdoGEO implements more than 110 professional development programs and 16 professional retraining programs. During the year, the Center conducts at least 100 courses for 1000 attendees. It should be noted that CdoGEO is an exporter of FVE programs: only this year, courses were held for students from Latvia, China, Vietnam and Kazakhstan.
At the round table, IGPT employees made presentations about scientific developments and talked about the application of research developments in production. Representatives of Sheshmaoil Management Company LLC highly appreciated the results of scientists and noted great prospects for cooperation.
“Our visit to Kazan is for informational purposes,” said Maxim Novikov. – It turned out to be useful in terms of assessing the prospects for cooperation. We saw that KFU is a dynamically developing university, which pays great attention to the introduction of advanced technologies. I think we can cooperate in several areas at once, primarily in finding and solving problems in our fields. In the long term, we are interested in modeling.”
Danis Nurgaliev emphasized that it is important for IGPT KFU to develop cooperation with both large and small oil companies.
“Sheshmaoil Management Company” LLC is one of the most promising small companies not only in Tatarstan, but also in Russia,” said Danis Nurgaliev. The company has extensive experience and has many interesting fields, impressive oil reserves. We have good prospects for joint work in the field of prospecting, exploration, calculation of reserves and enhanced oil recovery by different methods: using polymers, chemical methods, as well as catalysts, thermal methods for viscous oil.”
