CdoGEO KFU continues to implement additional professional education programs for the oil company CUPET (Cuba)
On February 22, the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of the Kazan Federal University was visited by representatives of the Cuban national oil and gas company CUPET – Director of Human Resources Tanya Perez and Head of Training and Development Mario Miranda.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss plans to expand cooperation. Cooperation with CUPET goes on in all directions. Thus, from 2018 to 2022, the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU graduated two groups of masters (25 students) in the “Petroleum Engineering” program. During the same time, 267 specialists and company managers were trained in advanced training courses. In addition, within the framework of the World-Class Research Center (WCRC) “Rational Development of the Planet’s Liquid Hydrocarbons,” KFU scientists, together with specialists from Zarubezhneft JSC, continue to develop catalytic aquathermolysis technologies for the production of ultra-viscous oil at the Boca de Jaruco oilfield. In 2023, the third batch of catalyst with a volume of 12 tons and 6 tons of solvent has been delivered.
During the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue the implementation of training programs for CUPET employees in 2024. It is planned to conduct a course “Non-seismic methods for hydrocarbon prospecting” in Kazan and two courses in Havana with the support of Zarubezhneft JSC – “Technologies for oil production from reservoirs with hard-to-recover reserves” and “Modern technologies for enterprise management in the oil and gas industry (operational management)”.
“The training in Havana for the second time will be conducted by a specialist in the field of enhanced oil recovery, senior researcher at the research laboratory of EOR methods, laureate of the Science and Innovation Award for Young Scientists Irek Mukhamatdinov, says Deputy Director of IGPT for Marketing, Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO) Ildus Chukmarov. He received this award for the successful application of in-situ oil upgrading technology using catalytic aquathermolysis, including its implementation in Cuba. In this way, CdoGEO will continue to transfer knowledge and skills to ensure Cuba’s complete energy independence and improve the quality of life of the Cuban people.”
