KFU and Trimble are creating a webinar course
The Incubator of distance education projects of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies (IGPT) of KFU is carrying out a project of creating a cycle of video lectures to be delivered by Mikhail Karavanov, Trimble (USA) official representative. A new video lecture “Trimble Geospatial and 3D models” was released on the YouTube channel of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing of IGPT. It tells about BIM models of Tekla; import/export of IFC models in field and office software of Trimble; modern scanning total stations and field controllers of Trimble. It is noteworthy that the building of the Astronomical Observatory of Kazan Federal University serves as an example of the model of the structure.
Trimble is one of the largest international companies in the field of development of positioning systems based on signals and global navigation systems (GPS), as well as the creation and promotion of geodetic instruments.
To recap, in 2013, during the third specialized exhibition “GEO-KAZAN: Geological exploration. Geodesy. Cartography” a cooperation agreement was signed between KFU and Trimble, under which the company provides discounts to the University for the purchase of equipment, and part of the new technologies and software is transferred to the University free of charge.
” Multimedia content created by the Center is used not only in providing the programs of additional professional education, but also in training of bachelors and masters, as well as to attract applicants. In addition, it’s a good tool to attract the customers doing their research works, as well as and to promote the achievements of the University. That’s what “marketing” means in the name of the Center’- noted Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU and Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing.
The incubator of distance education projects was launched in the IGPT not so long ago, but it has already established itself not only as a means of producing video content, but also as an interactive classroom. It regularly hosts webinars, online lectures for oil and gas companies, as well as schoolchildren and university students.
