KFU visited by Intel representatives
Ralph de Vargni, director of the Intel EMEA affiliate network, and Olga Andrianova, director of business development for Intel software products, visited Kazan Federal University. The visit took place as part of the Intel Software training delivery for Kazan engineers and scientists, including the staff of KFU, during which the company representatives talked about a set of Intel solutions, ranging from using optimized libraries to microarchitectural optimization.
Ralph de Vargney spoke in detail about new trends in Intel’s developments, demonstrated the company’s new products, which aroused a great interest of the participants.
During the meeting with Intel representatives, Ilshat Gafurov, the Rector of KFU, spoke about university projects in which new technologies and Intel solutions can be used.
“Digital Technology Centers are being currently created in every structural subdivision of Kazan Federal University. And it is important that we take optimal actions from setting goals and objectives to acquiring software and hardware products. Another focus area is the creation of Research and Educational center, the main research areas of which are to be petrochemistry, biomedicine and information technology. And we would appreciate if Intel offers us new solutions for success, ”said Ilshat Gafurov.
Olga Andrianova, Intel Software Product Business Development Director, said that by the Agreement between Kazan Federal University and Intel there is a mutual interest in providing regular lectures, as well as developing research projects.
Danis Nurgaliev, the Vice-rector for Research and Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan University, told the guests about ongoing research and educational projects. “Together with TATNEFT we created a software product based on neural networks that makes it possible to make interpretation of borehole geophysical data. It is worth noting that this is also an extensive database. This is data processing for 5,000 wells using machine learning. Also, our mathematicians on the basis of the research laboratory “Geoinformation and geophysical technologies” introduce methods of machine learning and artificial intelligence in solving problems of troubleshooting in integrated circuits. Intel has ready-made solutions that we can implement in our work. As for educational projects, the Center for Advanced Training of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies is successfully providing further professional education programs involving leading experts and developers of new technologies”, Danis Nurgaliev shared.
Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director for Marketing of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University and Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing and Vladislav Sudakov, Deputy Director for innovative activities of IGPT, the head of the REC “TRIZ Modeling”, told more about research and educational projects of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies.
Every year, more than 1000 specialists of oil and gas companies come to KFU to study new advanced technologies . “The digitalization of the oil industry is not just a fashion trend – it is a challenge of the time. In the past year, the Center provided a unique program “ Improving the operational efficiency of the production system and the tools to reduce costs and increase oil and gas production within the conditions of rapid changes in Industry 4.0.” for Tatneft managers and specialists,which was highly appreciated by our partners and customers. During negotiations with Intel representatives, agreements were reached on the joint implementation of further education programs for oilfield service companies and oil producers. It is gratifying that such a large company as Intel is ready to cooperate with us and help our customes to keep up to date, ”added Ildus Adgamovich,
It should be noted that the guests showed a keen interest in the geological and medical areas of university training.
