From Yakutia to Cuba: CdoGEO KFU implements courses across 14 time zones
From March 29 to April 6, the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO) implemented the ArcGIS for Desktop advanced training program for employees of PJSC ALROSA. The training took place in a full-time format in the city of Mirny, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
Ruzil Sitdikov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Geophysics and Geoinformation Technologies of IGPT KFU, and Kirill Rodionov, Engineer of the Department of Geophysics and Geoinformation Technologies of IGPT KFU, traveled to one of the most severe places on Earth to implement the course.
According to teachers, all students were satisfied with the course, many admitted that they had been waiting for training in the ArcGIS for Desktop program for many years.
“Some of our listeners are engaged in mapping, the other part is involved in spatial data analysis. Most have experience with ArcGIS and wanted to dive deeper into the software. During this refresher course, students learned data and layers managing, use of coordinate systems and map projections, typical data analysis workflows, as well as creating geodatabases and feature classes,” said Ruzil Sitdikov.
“Absolutely everything was useful,” one of the listeners wrote in the satisfaction questionnaire. — The acquired knowledge is mostly key to the fulfillment of our tasks; the smaller part of the curriculum is the functionality that at first glance is not useful to us, in fact, it forms skills that can be used to intuitively solve some non-standard tasks at work. In general, a lot is aimed at the correct formation of databases and their correct use – in my opinion – this is one of the key aspects in maps construction. Considering that, for example, our specialists build, for example, of some sections on the map “manually”, we can safely say that we still do not use many functions, probably out of ignorance that they exist. The course is very helpful!
I would like to thank the teachers, and note the importace of full-time education. In the classroom, there is literally an individual approach to everyone: if something doesn’t work out for you, lecturers immediately come up to show and explain. And the level of explanations is very high – there were no jumps over some stage, everything was really understandable!
Special thanks for such really nice flash drives and wonderfully compiled training manuals.
“CdoGEO KFU is expanding the geography of field courses,” says Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director of IGPT for Marketing, Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO). – From March 29 to April 6, we implemented the ArcGIS for Desktop program for 43 employees of PJSC ALROSA. In April, CdoGEO faculty and partners travel to Cuba’s capital, Havana, to conduct a course on “Tecnología SAGD para extraer petróleo de alta viscosidad” for 20 employees of CUPET. Thus, from May to April, we covered 14 time zones! CdoGEO implements programs in any format at the request of the customer: face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and with visits to geological sites and enterprises.
We are waiting for your orders from anywhere in the world, even from Antarctica, especially since Danis Nurgaliyev, Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU, has already paved the way there by hoisting our flag on the continent.”
