IGPT KFU was visited by a delegation of Bashneft-Petrotest LLC

The Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University was visited by a delegation of Bashneft-Petrotest LLC, a subsidiary engineering enterprise of PJSC ANK Bashneft (subsidiary of PJSC NK Rosneft).

The delegation included General Director of LLC Bashneft-Petrotest Vyacheslav Efanov, Deputy General Director for Development and Innovation Emil Gadelshin, Head of the Department for Personnel and Social Programs Svetlana Lopatovskaya, acting head of Scientific and Technical Center Ildar Hanafin.

The meeting of Kazan Federal University with the management of LLC Bashneft-Petrotest was organized by Deputy Director of IGPT for Innovation Vladislav Sudakov and the team of IGPT EOR Center. The visit was accompanied by the director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO) Ildus Chukmarov.

The main purpose of the Bashneft-Petrotest LLC visit is to expand cooperation with KFU in scientific, technical and educational areas. Bashneft-Petrotest LLC is an integrator of innovative domestic developments in the field of well logging and their implementation into production within the entire company of PJSC NK Rosneft.

The program of the visit turned out to be very eventful. It began with a visit to the 3D GEO Center located in IPGT KFU, where students learn to build geological models. Here Ildus Chukmarov introduced the guests to the possibilities of CdoGEO as well as represented programs of additional professional education.

Further, the guests visited the Incubator of Distance Education Projects, where video lectures are created for CdoGEO students and listeners.

After that, the acquaintance with the technical equipment of IGPT continued in the laboratories of the institute. On the first day, the guests visited the laboratory of isotope and elemental analysis, where they were shown an isotope mass spectrometer, a portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer, a Raman confocal microscope, which allows one to determine the component and mineral composition of solid and powder samples at a point with a diameter of 500 microns, to study Raman scattering spectra, the composition of gas-liquid inclusions. The delegations also visited the Laboratory of Petrophysical Research Methods, the Laboratory of Isotope Geochemistry and Stratigraphy, the Laboratory of X-ray Computed Tomography.

One of the promising areas of IGPT’s work is EOR. These studies are carried out by scientists from the Research Laboratory “Rheological and Thermochemical Research” of the Butlerov Institute of Chemistry , which the guests visited on the second day of the visit. At the Institute of Chemistry, the guests were shown equipment that allows a complete analysis of oil and gas samples behavior in a wide temperature range. The laboratory has developed and constructed unique pilot units for testing and optimizing thermal EOR methods: combustion pipes, steam injection units, which have no analogues in the world.

The guests also visited the IGPT EOR Center, a subdivision of IGPT which provides a full-fledged opportunity to work with geological and reservoir simulation 3D models of oil and gas fields as well as project training for young specialists.

Also, the delegation got acquainted with the Training Well and the GIS class.

During the visit to the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, the guests met with the Vice-Rector for Petroleum Technologies, Environmental Management and Earth Sciences, Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of the Kazan Federal University Danis Nurgaliev.

“We are in search of enterprises and educational institutions that will be able to create tools and methods for practical application by Rosneft,” says Vyacheslav Efanov. KFU has powerful laboratories, advanced technologies, and most importantly, geophysical research is carried out at the highest level. Therefore, we look forward to fruitful cooperation.”

During the conversation with the management of Bashneft-Petrotest LLC, Danis Karlovich told about the history of the Kazan Federal University as well as about the successful projects in which the university is taking part. For example, last year KFU won a grant for the creation of the National Project “Science and Universities” of the World-Class Research Center (WCRC) in the field of environmentally friendly resource-saving energy “Rational development of the planet’s liquid hydrocarbon reserves.” Work in this area is running at full tilt. This year KFU entered the first group of winners in the competition for a grant under the Priority 2030 program. The project, which is presented by IGPT in a consortium with other KFU institutions, is called “Russian energy transition: balance of natural potential and global trends”, it is aimed, among other things, at the efficient use of oil and gas infrastructure in the process of transition to “green” energy.

Danis Nurgaliev also gave examples of mutually beneficial cooperation with other service and oil and gas companies. For example, projects with OOO TNG-Group and PAO TATNEFT were implemented within the framework of RF Government Decree No. 218 related to the creation of effective methods and technologies for the development of viscous super-viscous oil deposits, increasing the efficiency of well and field geophysical studies for prospecting, exploration and reservoirs development, as well as with the development of a complex of geological and geophysical methods for predicting geomechanical parameters and the stress state of carbonate reservoirs.

PJSC NK Rosneft is a long-term partner of KFU. We conduct training and advanced training for the company employees, we have the widely known “Petroleum Engineering” Master’s program implemented jointly with the PJSC NK Rosneft, BP and Imperial College London. KFU also carries out scientific research in many areas of the company’s work, such as the development of technologies for the extraction of unconventional hydrocarbon resources, digitalization in the oil and gas industry.

“LLC “Bashneft-Petrotest”Company is interested in the development of domestic competitive technologies in the field of well logging and field geophysics, therefore our Institute will be especially useful to them,” notes Danis Nurgaliev. – We are ready to cooperate with them in all areas: geophysical, geochemical, oilfield development methods and digitalization, software products and devices development in all these areas.

During the meeting, the following KFU researchers told the guests in detail about the implemented projects and scientific activities of IGPT: Senior Lecturers of the Department of Geophysics and Geoinformation Technologies Viktor Kosarev and Sergey Usmanov, 1st category Engineer  of the Department of Geophysics and Geoinformation Technologies Ekaterina Yachmeneva, Junior Researcher of the Laboratory “Modern Geoinformation and Geophysical technologies” Maria Shipaeva.

In the course of summing up the results, the topic of additional professional education was again raised. Ildus Chukmarov showed the platforms on which digital educational resources (DER) are implemented. In accordance with the requirements of OOO Bashneft-Petrotest, the director of CdoGEO proposed to create courses for the development of the company’s personnel.

“We can improve the qualifications of your employees on the required programs and topics,” says Ildus Chukmarov. In addition, we invite your specialists to take part in the creation of new courses that will be placed on our websites. And the third section of cooperation concerns the creation of the Knowledge Base, which will also host unique educational video lectures for Rosneft employees and students from all over Russia.

The company’s management enthusiastically accepted the proposal and promised to consider it shortly.

At the end of the meeting, Svetlana Lopatovskaya discussed an important topic that could develop into a serious project – the creation of simulators for training in the area of well logging.

Also, in the course of summing up the results, the parties outlined a further plan for the development of cooperation, agreed to form a minutes of the meeting and sign an agreement of intent.
