KFU and Schlumberger expand cooperation
Kazan Federal University had a visit from Konstantin Mazayev, director for recruitment and interaction with universities of Schlumberger, who took part in the events on the occasion of 215th anniversary of the University. Konstantin Andreyevich got acquainted with the laboratories of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, Butlerov Chemical Institute, developments of the scientists of “Ekoneft” priority area in the field of oil production,oil refining and petrochemicals, as well as the capabilities of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing.
KFU and Schlumberger enduring partnership goes back to 2012,when Ilshat Gafurov, Rector of Kazan Federal University and Artyom Karapetov, HR Director of Schlumberger in Russia, signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of joint scientific and educational activities and placement of students. Currently, within the framework of cooperation, the students and teaching staff are provided lectures, company technological days are held during which the students have the chance to sign up for trial interviews, some of them have actually been offered a real job.Moreover, joint projects are being implemented as part of further professional education,
“We have been cooperating with Kazan University for a long time and are always happy to participate in the educational process, in training both the teachers and the students. At the moment, an employee of the company Stepan Petukhov is training a group of teachers of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies with the new OLGA software product. Also this week, Vladislav Vlasov, an engineer for the artificial lift section of the company, has provided a lecture for the students. We believe that geo -students, upon graduation, will become qualified specialists that will increase their marketability”, – said Konstantin Mazaev.
The guest also noted that the company greatly appreciates KFU students who regularly undergo practical training and internships at Schlumberger, as well as those having joined the ranks of company employees. They proved to be persistent and having a sound scientific background.
During the talks with Danis Nurgaliev, the Vice-rector for Research and Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan University and Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director for Marketing of the Institute of GPT of KFU and Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing a number of agreements were reached that will expand the cooperation of KFU and Schlumberger in educational, scientific-research and technical fields.
