Project of a New English-Language Graduate Program Discussed at the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies
The Institute’s alumni visited alma mater to present their ideas.
Marat Ravilov, Ramil Ismagilov, and Rafael Akhmetzyanov graduated from a joint KFU-REPSOL program in 2008 – 2009. Their studies included a course at the School of Mining Engineering of the Technological University of Madrid, 3-month courses of Spanish, 9 months of further studies at TUM, and another 3-month course in exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons and gasification.
The curriculum was fully funded by REPSOL, and the three alumni proceeded to work at the company. Mr. Ismagilov opined that he was very lucky to be a part of the project.
The alumni met with Director of IGPT Danis Nurgaliev to propose new English-language programs and courses. They want to contribute to their native university.
Dr. Nurgaliev said that he wants to expand international programs and establish more double diploma projects with leading universities. There are currently two of them at the Institute: “Stratigraphy of Petroleum and Gas Basins” (with the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology) and “Complex Analysis of Data in Petroleum Geosciences” (with French Petroleum Institute). There are also many programs in short-term advanced training, such as recent successful courses for Cuban and Iraqi oilers.
The Institute is currently working to establish the Incubator of Distance Learning to bring KFU’s online education to a new level.
