Vladimir Putin presented the Prize of the President of the Russian Federation in the field of science and innovation to the lecturer of CdoGEO and employee of the IGPT KFU

On February 8, the Kremlin hosted the award ceremony for the 2022 Science and Innovation Prize for Young Scientists. Irek Mukhamatdinov, a senior researcher at the Research Laboratory for Enhanced Oil Recovery Methods of the WCRC for the Rational Development of the Planet’s Liquid Hydrocarbon Reserves, Associate Professor at the Department of Hard-To-Recover Hydrocarbons Development and Operation of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies KFU, is among its laureates.

After the solemn ceremony, the head of state held a conversation with young scientists. Irek Mukhamatdinov spoke about the development of aquathermolysis catalysts for enhanced oil recovery at the Kazan Federal University, the activities of the World-Class Research Center “Rational Development of the Planet’s Liquid Hydrocarbon Reserves”.

“I would like to thank you, Vladimir Vladimirovich, as well as the Council for Science and Education under the President of the Russian Federation for the high assessment of my contribution to the scientific result, which will significantly change the production of high-viscosity oil. Of course, this result would not have been possible to obtain without the opportunities provided to me by the Kazan Federal University. I would like to thank Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU Danis Nurgaliev, Head of the Department of Development and Operation of Hard-to-Recover Hydrocarbon Fields of KFU Mikhail Varfolomeev, Head of the In-Situ Combustion Research Laboratory Alexey Vakhin, as well as our entire team for their immense support and contribution to the overall success. Special thanks to my parents, wife and beloved daughter.” — said Irek.

This technology has successfully passed pilot tests at the fields in Tatarstan, Samara region and Cuba (Boca de Jaruco field).

“It is gratifying to note that such successful scientists and talented teachers as Irek Mukhamatdinov participate in CdoGEO projects and promote their scientific developments in the largest oil and gas companies.” — says Ildus Chukmarov, IGPT Deputy Director for Marketing, Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO). Irek Mukhamatdinov took part in our course “SAGD technology for the production of high-viscosity oils” in Havana for specialists from the Cuban national oil and gas company CUPET and its subdivisions. In December 2022, he took part in the implementation of the CdoGEO advanced training course for CUPET executives. Irek accompanied their trip to LLC RITEK, a scientific and technical testing ground of PJSC LUKOIL, and spoke about the joint projects of KFU and the company to introduce aquathermolysis catalysts for enhanced oil recovery. Also in December, the young scientist took part in organizing a meeting with the director of the CEINPET production department, Freya González Núñez, and the chief specialist of the CEINPET biotechnology laboratory, Tais Hernandez Gomez. Irek Mukhamatdinov spoke in detail about the developments and gave a tour of the laboratory. By the way, Freya González Núñez invited Irek to become co-supervisor of her scientific work.

We congratulate Irek Mukhamatdinov and the entire team of IGPT under the leadership of Danis Nurgaliyev with this success! CdoGEO supports young scientists and teachers and invites them to implement additional professional education programs. We wish Irek Mukhamatdinov success in his scientific and teaching activities.”
