CdoGEO is preparing to accompany the transition to hydrogen energy
As part of a working trip to the capital of Tatarstan, the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University was visited by the President of the Global Energy Association Sergey Brilev and members of the International Committee for the award of the eponymous prize Marta Bonifert (Hungary) – Member of the Board of the Hungarian Business Leaders Forum (HBLF), Head of the Committee for Sustainable Development Dmitry Bessarabov (South Africa) – Director of the Expert and Consulting Center for Hydrogen Strategy under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
It should be noted that earlier they took part in a solemn ceremony at which the winners of the Global Energy Prize 2021 were announced. The guests also met with the rector of KFU Ilshat Gafurov.
At IGPT KFU, the guests were met by Vice-Rector for Petroleum Technologies, Environmental Management and Earth Sciences, Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University Danis Nurgaliev, as well as Deputy Director for Marketing, Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO) Ildus Chukmarov. The delegation was accompanied by Mikhail Varfolomeev, Head of the Department of Hard-To-Recover Hydrocarbons Development and Operation of IGPT KFU.
At the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, the guests visited the 3D GEO Center, where students learn to build geological and reservoir simulation models. During the excursion, Ildus Chukmarov told the members of the delegation about the possibilities of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing. He stressed that CdoGEO is an exporter of additional professional education programs. This year alone, CdoGEO courses have been implemented for China, Vietnam and Latvia. Ildus Adgamovich Chukmarov also spoke about the Center’s experience in creating educational video lectures with the participation of IGPT’s partners. He invited Marta Bonifert, Dmitry Bessarabov and Sergey Brilev to also take part in the creation and implementation of content for IGPT’s YouTube channel. According to the director of CdoGEO, today the world is on the verge of energy transformation, or rather, the transition to hydrogen energy. The created courses should join the global trend and promote a new energy transition.
Traditionally, the guests were shown the laboratories of IGPT KFU: the laboratory of isotope and elemental analysis, where employees are engaged in scientific activities in the field of isotope geochemistry, in particular oil and gas geochemistry, chemostratigraphy and isotope geochronology. In the laboratory of X-ray computed tomography, the guests were shown a nanofocus research X-ray system for computed tomography. In the laboratory, scientists perform pore-scale modeling, industrial defectoscopy, and study the structures of porosity and fracturing.
“With Dmitry Bessarabov, we discussed the possibility of joint participation in Russian and international projects,” says Danis Nurgaliev. The guests became interested in our technology of underground oil refining and hydrogen production. They also suggested involving KFU scientists as experts for reviewing works nominated for the Global Energy Prize. During the negotiations, we agreed that we would jointly invite leading world experts and scientists, including Nobel laureates, to KFU, to give lectures for young scientists. In addition, it is planned to hold other events for students: meetings with experts in the field of energy, discussion of modern trends in the field of energy.”
“The meeting with the delegation at IGPT was productive,” says Ildus Chukmarov. We made two important proposals to the guests on the topic of hydrogen energy. First, they agree with us that a new energetic transition requires new thinking, first of all, among the people who provide this transformation. In this regard, the role of educational projects and programs of additional professional education is growing. CdoGEO offered to cooperate in the creation of new additional vocational education, bachelor’s and master’s degrees programs. We also managed to agree to start work related to the creation of educational video lectures on the topic of hydrogen energy at the Incubator of distance educational projects. “
After the excursion around IGPT, KFU hosted a round table on the following topic: “Prospects for young scientists in the energy industry: what research areas will be in demand in this area in the next 30 years.”
