Specialists of oil and gas industry of Cuba will join the ranks of graduate students of IGPT

A group of 19 specialists of the state oil company of Cuba successfully completed the first term of their study at Kazan Federal University. To recap, after finishing one-year preparatory courses, Cupet employees will start the master’s program at the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies (IGPT) of KFU. According to the terms and conditions of intergovernmental agreement the young professionals are expected to major in oil and gas business. After finishing one-year Russian language courses  the program “Development of hard-to-recover and unconventional hydrocarbon deposits” is to be covered by the Cuban specialists.

“At the preparatory faculty ,the students from the Republic of Cuba study Russian as a foreign language, as well as the subjects of specialization – mathematics, physics, computer science. The students are learning   the language not only in the classroom, they are also practicing speaking Russian getting acquainted with Kazan, visiting  museums, attending  sports  events and concerts, ”said Regina Zalyalova, the Head of the Russian language Department of the Preparatory Department for foreign students.

Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director for Marketing of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, a supervisor of this group, had a meeting with the Cuban colleagues in the Universiade Village.  He hold a discussion in the Russian language, this being a kind of test of their knowledge of Russian. The students expressed their satisfaction with the accommodations and the quality of services.

 “Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU has been cooperating with  the state Cuban company for several years.   During 2016-2018 years  the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing of IGPT implemented the major contract on provision of advanced training. The management of the Institute is trying to help the foreign students to adapt to new situations so as they could benefit from their stay in the country.’, said Ildus Chukmarov   He expressed his willingness to keep friendly relations.

The project is being implemented for the second time. In the past year a group of 16 Cupet specialists successfully completed their studies at Kazan Federal University on the program “Modern technologies for exploration and development of high-viscosity oil.”
