The head of the Center for Competence and Import Substitution of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation got acquainted with the capabilities of KFU
Oleg Zhdaneyev, the Head of the Center for Competence and Import Substitution of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, one of the winners of the Leaders of Russia competition, arrived with the visit to Kazan Federal University.
The Competence Center brings together projects of oil and gas companies and research centers for import substitution on one platform and is known to be a tool for implementing consolidated initiatives of FEC energy industry market participants. As part of these projects, the best technologies are analyzed and selected to meet the needs of the industry that can compete with foreign ones. The Center has more than 50 areas of import substitution to deal with including oil recovery enhancement methods, catalysts, exploration and prospecting and many others. Kazan Federal University, with its unique base for research and world-famous technologies, has been attracting Russian and foreign companies for several years. This time, the promising state structure took interest in the developments of KFU scientists.
One of the main activities of the Center is creation of system integrator. In KFU, the issues of making universities such integrators were being discussed during round tables with participation of the largest companies of the industry.
“Oil and gas industry is currently using a lot of technologies, equipment and methods of foreign origin. For example, more than 90% of the technologies being applied in the petrochemical industry are borrowed from Western companies. And in this sense, the issue of import substitution is extremely urgent. Kazan Federal University has a large number of developments and technologies in the field of prospecting, exploration and development of deposits, including unconventional deposits. ”, said Danis Nurgaliev, Vice-Rector for Research and Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan University
The guest was shown the unique laboratories of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies and A.M. Butlerov Chemical Institute, that are part of the priority Econeft area, the TRIZ Modeling research center, the capabilities of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing of IGPT. Danis Karlovich told Oleg Valerievich in details about the developments of KFU scientists in the field of oil production, oil refining and petrochemistry and ongoing educational programs. The guest also had a meeting with the young scientists, got acquainted with the unique instruments and methods developed at Kazan University.
“It is gratifying to emphasize that the university has well- equipped laboratories and a very good fundamental foundation that gives a good opportunity to obtain concrete practical results on this basis. Solution of specific practical problems facing the industry at present should be based on fundamental science”, said Oleg Zhdaneyev.
